// About Magic Edge

The future of entertainment.

► The dream

A world you control, not one you watch.

My dream, since first riding “Star Tours” at Disneyland and “Back to the Future” at Universal Studios, has been to interactively dogfight in an F-18 fighter jet, an X-wing fighter, or to ride along with my son while he pilots our craft through the LEGOLAND that exists only in a child’s imagination.

This is the future of entertainment: the ability to go into a world of fantasy, to participate in it, and to be in control while you’re there. Not merely to ride along and look out the window — to participate in a world of cartoon characters, undersea explorers, race cars, or space voyagers. It’s the dream of everyone who has sat in a theater, read a book, or played a video game.

// What the simulator is

The simulators are disguised and can be easily customized. Through the eyes of the guest, the simulator is a jet fighter, a spacecraft, an undersea voyager, or a time machine. The Simulator is a magician: it provides an illusion and shares its secrets with no one. Children and adults alike can journey to the center of the earth, rocket into space, explore a coral reef, or travel through time — and even if only for a few moments, the journey will be real.

01

In control

You don’t just ride along — you participate in the world and control it while you’re inside it.

02

A real journey

Fly and dogfight in a jet fighter, rocket into space, explore a coral reef, or travel through your child’s favorite fantasy world — and for a while, it’s real.

03

The illusion

The simulator is a magician. It provides an illusion — and shares its secrets with no one.

04

Endlessly customizable

Disguised and easily customized — a jet fighter, a spacecraft, an undersea voyager, or a time machine.

► How it started

From a garage in San Carlos.

Magic Edge was founded more than twenty years ago, and we built the first simulator in a garage in San Carlos, California. In the next three years we opened Magic Edge centers in Mountain View, Tokyo, and Sydney. The centers were incredible successes — the Mountain View center flew a half a million pilots, and guests waited more than an hour to fly in Tokyo.

Our mission is unchanged: build a simulator capsule that puts the pilot in control, tells a great interactive story, and surrounds them with incredible visuals and mind-blowing 3D sound — for a “WOW!” factor out of this world.
